My name is Douglas Conrad, an Iowa-based photographer based out of Sioux City, Iowa. I have been capturing captivating images since the early '70s, specializing in wildlife, nature, and landscapes. However, my journey with photography extends beyond these genres, as I also find great enjoyment in exploring and experimenting with other photographic disciplines.
My primary goal as a photographer is to shape light, texture, and color in a way that conveys a sense of depth and creates focal points for the viewer's eye to rest upon. I believe that in photography, these elements work together to create captivating and immersive images that transport the viewer into a different world.
Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to receive recognition at the local and regional levels for my photography. My images have been exhibited at The Sioux City Art Center, Sioux City, Iowa, The Dahl Art Center, Rapid City, South Dakota, Yankton Regional Art Center, Yankton, South Dakota, Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, Sioux City, Iowa, Northwestern College, Orange City, Iowa, and the Iowa State Fair among others. These exhibitions have allowed me to showcase my work to a wider audience and connect with other photographers and enthusiasts who share my passion for photography.
In addition to my personal endeavors, I am also a former past president of the Sioux City Camera Club and a current board member. I am actively involved in club activities, organizing workshops, exhibitions, and competitions, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among fellow photographers.
I have also been honored to serve as the president of the North Central Camera Club Council (N4C), an organization consisting of 40 camera clubs throughout the Midwest. In this role, I have collaborated with fellow photographers to promote photography in the region, organize events, and provide educational opportunities for our members.
As I continue my journey as a photographer, I am excited to further explore and capture the beauty that surrounds us. Through my photography, I aim to inspire viewers to appreciate the natural world and to preserve it for future generations to enjoy.
